Somali researchers from Interpeace's three partner institutions, the Puntland Development Research Center (PDRC), the Academy for Peace and Development (APD), and the Center for Research and Dialogue (CRD) have completed a peace mapping study of local and regional reconciliation initiatives in the Somali region. They may not be known beyond their immediate context but have provided a basis for stability, peace and development.

The peace mapping study is complemented by a study of internationally sponsored, national level peace initiatives. Together, they provide valuable lessons for both Somali and international policy makers on key factors influencing the success and sustainability of peace processes and issues relating to the relationship between peacebuilding and statebuilding.
